The WAGs (wives and girlfriends) of F1 raised 345,000 euros for the Tereza Maxova Foundation at the Amber Fashion show on Friday night. AT&T Williams' Director of Engineering Patrick Head was in the audience, but the six auctioned lots – a ride in a two-seater F1 car, two paintings by Sacha Jafri, a diamond necklace, a watch and VIP tickets to the Monaco GP were bought by Prince Albert of Monaco, Philip Green and ex-Williams F1 driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen. The highlight of the evening, however, was when the auctioneer asked Bernie Ecclestone 'exactly who are
you?' No, he won’t be doing the job next year.
- Watch your backs, Nico and Alex: Sir Jackie Stewart might be about to don his helmet and overalls again. 'I would like to drive around Monaco in an F1 car, says Sir Jackie, who is an ambassador for RBS. “But I wouldn't want to do it in a modern F1 car; I’d like to do it in Tyrrell 003 or 006.' It's okay, boys, you're safe.
- When the guests of Randstad and Battery took their Clipper, the Stad Amsterdam, for a spin in the Mediterranean in the afternoon, they spotted an F1 driver all at sea. Jenson 'Flipper' Button was enjoying a training swim in the sea off Cap D'Ail.
- There were no training swims for Kimi Raikkonen, but the Ferrari star was still a busy boy on Friday. He was spotted hopping between two boats in the Monaco harbour. Why? 'I have two: one boat for my parents and one for my friends.'
