We’ve changed the set-up of the FW30 quite a lot this weekend, which has meant long days at the track looking at telemetry and discussing the handling characteristics of the car with my engineers. As a result, there hasn’t been much time to do anything away from the track.

Every evening I’ve got back to my hotel – the Radisson – and had dinner almost immediately in its Italian restaurant. I try to keep some consistency in my diet over a race weekend, so I’ve usually eaten a caprese salad to start, followed by a bowl of pasta for main course and a mouthful of tiramisu for pudding (if my trainer Nick isn’t looking).

I’d like to see more of Bahrain and its capital city Manama, which I’m told has some great places to go out, but a Grand Prix weekend isn’t the time to do it!
