It’s very sad that Super Aguri are not in Turkey this weekend. I knew some of the people there and this must be a very tough time for them.

Of course, with Takuma Sato no longer on the grid, I’m the only Japanese driver in Formula One. Several people have asked how this has impacted on my life and the truth is that it hasn’t really. I’ll miss not having Takuma Sato to talk to on the driver parade before Sunday’s race, but the Japanese journalists have always been very diligent, so it’s not as if there are suddenly lots more people attending my media briefings.

press breakfastThis is me at my press breakfast on Saturday morning. I'll do a breakfast every other race weekend and enjoy a bowl of cereals and an OJ with about five or six journalists from different media. In Turkey, I had some of F1's host broadcasters join me from ITV (the UK) , MTV3 (Finland), TF1 (France), CNN Turk and RAI (the Italians).

Whether I’m getting more press cuttings at home, I can only tell you at a later date because I don’t get back to Japan much. I live in Oxford, in the UK, which I enjoy quite a lot – except for one thing. If I want to buy something at midnight in the UK, it’s not really possible, whereas in Japan you can buy anything you want at all times of the day and night.

Then again, I guess it’s a good incentive to get into bed earlier in the UK!
