The police motorcycle out-rider whom Kazuki Nakajima was following back to his hotel was fortunate to escape serious injury this evening when he was t-boned and thrown from his bike. Kazuki, who was following behind, phoned for an ambulance and was relieved to discover that the policeman had no broken bones. To aid the policeman’s recovery, Kazuki has invited him to watch Sunday’s race from AT&T Williams’ Paddock Club suite.

Getting about Istanbul was a nightmare this evening, and – for once – it had nothing to do with the traffic. Local footballing giants Galatasaray won the Turkish championship for the 17th time today and all of their fans spilled into Taxsim Square in celebration. Several AT&T Williams team members were forced to walk the final kilometre back to their hotel.

Party hats to the fore! Congratulations to AT&T Williams motorhome hand Jennie Wagstaff, who celebrated her 25th birthday today. The team made her a birthday cake, but she couldn’t have her cake and eat it thanks to a motorhome dinner for Oris, one of the team’s partners. iWitness is sure it’ll be worth the wait.

Silvia Hoffer, AT&T Williams’ press officer, is known as ‘The Boss’ in the media centre. While she’s extremely good at her job, the reason for the nickname has no professional connotations: she’s been a fan of Bruce “The Boss” Springsteen since she was 19. Attagirl!
